YARN
Like with my bobble hat, I think if you're going to spend the hours making yourself a jumper then it's worth spending a little extra on the yarn. I've use Rico Essentials Big chunky yarn. It's made of acrylic and wool, so it'll keep you warm without being itchy.

KNITTING NEEDLES
OTHER YARNS
- King Cole - Comfort Chunky yarn. This is a good alternative to the Rico, however it will give the finished jumper a slightly different texture. This yarn can achieve the same tension as the Rico, but you may need to adjust your needle size. It's made of acrylic (60%) and nylon (40%), and comes in 100g with 106m per ball. As they are 100g balls compared to the 50g balls of Rico yarn, you'll need half the balls stated above and in the pattern.
- Bergere De France - 100% Recycle/Recyclaine 8 yarn. This yarn can achieve the same tension as the Rico, but you may need to adjust your needle size. It's made of acrylic (51%), wool (38%), nylon (8%) and synthetic fibres (3%,) so it will give the jumper a different finished texture. It comes in 80m per 100g balls, compared to the 50g balls of Rico yarn. For each ball of the original Rico yarn stated in the pattern and above, you will need 0.6 balls of the Bergere de France Yarn.
